I hope you didn’t laugh at that title, because I really, really tried to make it as sensitive as possible. I mean, I could’ve just implied “Games of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage’s achondroplasia*, but then we’re missing the point, right? Peter Dinklage is 4″5′, and he just won an Emmy, the highest honor for television in America. He’s probably the first little person to ever win the award, and that is awesome.
Previous to “Game of Thrones,” we’ve all seen Dinklage in various film and television roles, be it the classic “don’t call me an elf” character, Miles Finch, in “Elf,” or when he played a little person who Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) mistook for a child and inadvertently ended up dating on “30 Rock.”
Well, Dinklage has broken the equivalent of a little person’s glass ceiling by playing one of the most badass characters on television, Tyrion Lannister on “Game of Thrones,” and winning an Emmy for it. Specifically – Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama.
Congrats, Peter Dinklage. We love you and can’t wait to watch you on the new season of “Game of Thrones.”
Because I know you were wondering, just like I was, courtesy of Wikipedia:
*Achondroplasia dwarfism occurs as a sporadic mutation in approximately 85% of cases (associated with advanced paternal age) or may be inherited in an autosomal dominant genetic disorder that is a common cause of dwarfism.

‘little person’? seriously? To me that sounds more degrading than calling him a dwarf. To quote Tyrion: ‘Never forget who you are, for surely the world won’t. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.’ Anyway, I can’t say I didn’t see this coming, his acting was sublime. Well-deserved
